TRY: Visiting Now or Never this August.

Last August, multi-venue festival Now or Never took Melbourne by storm with its line-up of vibrant cultural events, spanning everything from psychedelic cinema to late-night DJ sets. Its even bigger this year, employing the theme ‘Look Through the Image’ to inform a program of free and ticketed events, bringing the world’s most progressive artists, designers and thinkers to Melbourne’s most prominent venues. Kicking off on August 22nd, the festival is set to be absolutely chockers, so we thought we’d make life easier and pull together our top picks.

Silent Symphony
Ancient philosophers believed in the concept of musica universalis – a celestial harmony that exists beyond human hearing. Silent Symphony translates this ethereal music into a visual experience, showcasing eight rotating kinetic sculptures that project dynamic planes of light throughout the space. Enhanced by the soundscapes of Australian composer Ben Frost and English sound designer David Meckina, this immersive spectacle invites viewers into a realm where energetic forces and cosmic rhythms intertwine.
