TRY: A picnic in the park made by your favourite cafe or restaurant.

With the weather heating up and recent restrictions eased to allow for outdoor gatherings, there’s simply never been a better time for a picnic in the park. It’s also vital we support local business at the moment, so why not kill two birds with an alfresco lunch supplied by your favourite cafe or restaurant? We’ve compiled a list of eateries doing picnic packs right now, with everything on offer from brunch boxes to margarita jugs.

Moby
Like everything else they do, Moby have mastered the art of takeaway brunch. Their coveted brunch boxes are $50 for two people and $100 for four people. You get a coffee, a fresh juice, one main meal (think buttermilk pancakes or chilli scramble) and a choice of boozy add-ons like peach bellinis, bloody marys and mini prosecco bottles. We’ll take 12.

Radio Mexico
Beloved taqueria Radio Mexico are doing take away tacos, a ‘Dinner for Four’ pack and 1L jugs of margarita. The pack comes with a hearty selection of their most popular dishes along with an assortment of tasty sides – guac and corn chips included. Pre-order yours or grab a taco at the window and relish the flavours of Mexico down on the St Kilda foreshore.

Shop Ramen
If you’re a northsider with a penchant for home-style ramen – but you know the perils of ordering it takeaway – Shop Ramen have found a solution. Their DIY ramen kits allow you to concoct your soup at home with the utmost ease, ensuring it’s as fresh and flavoursome as when dining in. With everything from Pork Belly Shoyu to Organic Miso Tofu available, pre-order yours, assemble it in under half an hour and take it down to Edinburgh Gardens for Ramen in the park.

Bistro Gitan
For something a little bit fancy, treat yourself to a hamper from South Yarra institution, Hotel Gitan. $90 for a couple and $150 for a family, the hamper boasts a selection of their classic French-style dishes, reimagined for takeaway. Add a premium bottle of wine or a pack of craft beers and transport your feast across the road to Fawkner Park for the ultimate spring soiree.

Windsor Deli
While we’re all for mixing it up, we believe the quintessential picnic food is, in fact, a sandwich. The kitchen is open at Windsor Deli, where you can grab one of their famous gourmet sandwiches or something from the ‘Deli Dinner’ menu, a lockdown special. The dinners change weekly but meatball subs and loaded hotdogs have been known to feature. Don’t forget a hot cookie for dessert, or a cheeky slice of gluten-free cake.
