REMEMBER: Mixtapes, servo snacks and the long road ahead.

Before Spotify queues and GPS voices took over, the spring road trip was a full-blown ritual. You’d print the directions, burn a CD (or five) and stock up on questionable servo snacks for the journey. There was always one car window that wouldn’t stay up and someone who insisted on singing every verse of Highway to Hell. With public holidays lining up and the end-of-year chaos just around the corner, it feels like the perfect time to hit the road again — before the inbox fills and the calendar gets away from us.

Daylesford & Hepburn Springs
Just 90 minutes from Melbourne, Daylesford is where slow living meets style. Between mineral springs, boutique stays and fireside wine bars, it’s the perfect place for wellness and indulgence. Spend the afternoon exploring vintage stores or soaking in the historic Hepburn Bathhouse — or ideally both, because you’re on a road trip and why not?

Castlemaine
Once a gold rush town, Castlemaine is part country charm and part creative enclave — think converted mills housing galleries and makers, heritage streets lined with wine bars and an unmistakable sense of character. It’s the kind of place you go for the weekend and leave plotting your ‘greener-pastures’ change.

The Grampians
For the ones who crave open air and wide horizons. The Grampians deliver towering sandstone peaks, cascading waterfalls and walking trails that reward every step. After a day hiking outdoors, the region’s wineries and charming country pubs make the perfect reward.

Mornington Peninsula
A local favourite for good reason. Wineries, hot springs, coastal walks and some of Victoria’s best produce — all within easy reach of Melbourne. Whether you’re soaking at Alba, tasting at Pt. Leo Estate or catching golden hour in Sorrento, it always feels like a little holiday without the hassle of airport travel.

Bright
Nestled in the Alpine Valleys, Bright is a year-round beauty that really comes alive in spring. Expect tree-lined streetscapes, cycling trails and a food scene that punches well above its weight. The drive is almost as rewarding as the destination itself. A particular quote about this comes to mind…
